Real Madrid is reportedly not actively working to sign Martin Zubimendi, and it appears they believe he will reach Arsenal.
The Real Sociedad midfielder shines in La Liga and will definitely snap to a big club.
Arsenal has long been strongly associated with Zubimendi, but there have also been tweets about Real Madrid hijacking the deal.
However, today’s report from Athletics shows that Gooner can breathe easily, as he says he’s watching the Los Blancos move to Emirates Stadium.
Spanish International may have certainly been a good fit for Madrid, but perhaps there is less obvious need for him at the Bernabeu.
Martin Zubimendi could become a key man in Arsenal midfield
Zubimendi will compete in the mid-round next season with celebrities like Aurelien Tchouameni, Eduardo Camavinga, Luka Modric and Jude Bellingham.
However, at Arsenal, the 26-year-old will certainly become a regular starter, with Mikel Arteta going to lose two key players at the end of this campaign.
Jorginho and Thomas Partey are both about to close their contracts at Emirates Stadium, meaning they will need to introduce Zubimendi and similar people.
Zubimendi appears to be a perfect fit for Arsenal’s style of play, offering something a little different to what you can get from Declan Rice, Martin Odegaard and Mikel Merino in that area of the pitch.
The athletic report also discusses Real Madrid’s interest in Arsenal’s William Saliba, but for now, all eyes will be on the pitch tonight as these two big names will meet at the Bernabeu for the second leg of the Champions League quarterfinals.
