Liverpool is already set to lose Trent Alexander Arnold to Real Madrid and may have to brace for another key player’s departure. The Spanish side has been making other moves.
Trent has been set up to join Real Madrid
The Reds are pleased to have been able to bring Virgil van Dik and Mohamed Sara into a new contract, but Trent has confirmed his decision to leave the free transfer this summer.
There have been extensive reports suggesting that the Spanish side will even show they will be able to make the deal early, paying around £850,000, as they want to make right-backs available in time for this summer’s Club World Cup, which is scheduled to begin on June 14th.
Arne Slot’s side, with the 26-year-old set to go this summer, will step up its pursuit of replacements and offer to Jeremy Fripon of Bayerlebakusen, which can be used for a relatively low rate of just £30 million to £34 million.

Liverpool could forget about Milos Kerquez and forget about a summer contract for another left-back.
However, there are reports from Spain that suggest that the only Liverpool defender Madrid is keen on Alexander Arnold, is considering a snap of Ibrahima Conate, whose contract expires in the summer of 2026.
Madrid isn’t going to make a move anytime soon, but the Reds are looking to approach Conate’s contract expiration date as they are at risk of losing yet another defender on a free transfer to the Spanish heavyweight division.
Arsenal’s William Saliba and AFC Bournemouth’s Dean Huysen have also been selected as Madrid’s targets, so Slots hopes to pursue another centre-back this summer, rather than wait for the 25-year-old to become available.
“Incredible” Conate will be a huge loss for slots
Slot did an excellent job securing a Premier League title in his first season. The French defender is one of the essential players to Liverpool’s success, having made 39 appearances in all competitions and continuing his fantastic partnership with Van Dick.
The Frenchman is a consistent performer for the Reds and even averaged tackles and blocks per game than Premier League Van Dique, so it’s a concern that Madrid is expressing interest.
However, the Spanish side has several options on the list, Liverpool still has time to stake the 70,000-pound defender into a new contract, and Madrid has no plans to make an approach in the near future.
