Liverpool attacker Luis Diaz has linked his move away from the club in recent months, with Barcelona monitoring his situation.
The Spanish outfit is eager to secure his signature, and they want to sign EUR 60 million, according to the sport. Meanwhile, Liverpool is cherishing him for 80 million euros. They have already offered him a new contract, but this is a huge increase in his current deal. However, players are not satisfied with the offer.
Lewis Diaz is an important player
It is still unknown how the situation will develop. He has been an important player for Liverpool since joining the club, scoring 17 goals in all competitions last season. Liverpool is overly dependent on Mohamed Sarah and Diaz in their offense. Losing the Colombian would be a blow to the club. It is still unknown if they are ready to sanction his departure.
He has been called a “really special” player by Jurgen Klopp in the past.
It is fair to assume that Barcelona must pay near the price to complete the transaction. Liverpool is not under pressure to remove players, so it seems unlikely that he will force the exit. There’s no doubt that he’ll want to join Barcelona, but the two clubs have to come to an agreement.
Liverpool must invest in multiple attackers
Liverpool is scheduled to sign Florian Whartz this summer on a club record deal. They should also invest in high quality wide players and front of the center. Diaz’s departure certainly boosts their transfer budget.
If he refuses to sign an extension, it would be wise for the club to cash him. It would be interesting to see if they could properly replace him. They were able to win a league title last season, making it an attractive destination for players.
