Liverpool could reportedly face a struggle to sign Crystal Palace midfielder Adam Wharton, with Real Madrid set to go all out for his signature.
The England international now appears to have emerged as Real’s top target in the middle of the park, with manager Xabi Alonso keen to bring in the player’s profile.
This follows Madrid being beaten by Arsenal to sign Martin Zvimendi in the summer, according to AS, quoted and translated by Sporting Witness.
Zvimendi is shining at Arsenal. This could deal a blow to Liverpool’s title hopes.
Adam Wharton transfer situation explained amid interest from Liverpool and Real Madrid
as previously reported catch off sideWharton is on the radar of Liverpool and Manchester City, as well as Real Madrid.
We imagine the Spanish giants are the favorites to land the 21-year-old, as Palace may prefer not to sell to another Premier League club.
It is also reported that Los Blancos are determined to pay what it takes to land Wharton.
Where should Adam Wharton go next?
Wharton himself will have an interesting decision to make as he could do well to earn a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to move to the Bernabéu.
Most footballers dream of such a move and Wharton could link up with fellow England internationals Jude Bellingham and Trent Alexander-Arnold, which could help him settle in.
However, at the same time, it is a high-pressure environment and may not guarantee regular play time.
From that perspective, someone like Liverpool might be better, but the Reds also offer an exciting project that has delivered many trophies in recent years.
