Red Bull has been criticized for putting Liam Lawson in his second car instead of signing Carlos Sainz.
Sainz was key to last year’s driver market when Lewis Hamilton took the Ferrari driver along and he became available.
Despite the opportunities at Red Bull and Mercedes, both missed the signs they went to Williams.
However, after two races this season, the Red Bull decision to promote Lawson internally after a short but impressive stint with his sister team.
Red Bull reportedly met on Tuesday and decided to replace Lawson with Yuki Tsunoda for the F1 Japan Grand Prix next weekend, but this is unconfirmed.
But they should have seen elsewhere when a great opportunity arises, they were told.
“The sign that it’s on the market.
“They had the option to do that. He’s a proven Grand Prix winner. I know his data from when he was with Max Verstappen.
“He didn’t beat Verstappen, and he didn’t beat Charles Leclerc often, but he’s the driver who picked up victory when he didn’t make it into the plan.
“If Max comes into contact with the driver on Turn 1, the size will win the Grand Prix.
“They’ve made themselves a massive entanglement, and I don’t think Lawson deserves the brunt of what he’s doing.
“He’s an elite sportsman at the top of the motor racing and is qualifying at the end! That’s really difficult.”
“Consistent” Red Bull criticised Liam Lawson’s decision

Liam Lawson
Lawson failed to break out of the first quarter in either Australia or China.
The tone from Team Principal Christian Horner shifted subtly after the Chinese Grand Prix.
“That’s uncomfortable for me,” commentator Jack continued. “I covered his junior career, he’s an easy guy.
“Objectively, once the 11 Grand Prix begins, he has the least experience and qualifies to be placed with Verstappen.
“He wasn’t with the front running team in his junior career, and he didn’t finish at any major spots on his way through the ladder.
“In my opinion, it’s very difficult to see why Liam was in this position in the first place.
“The man worthy of a shot in Formula 1 was advanced by a team asking the driver to repair the Rubik’s cube in the car, Sergio Perez-Tyre Whisper.
“Cecco couldn’t understand that. Daniel Ricciardo disappeared because he didn’t think he would beat Max.
“Alex Albon is pretty good against Grand Prix winner Carlos Signes. At this point he was a quarter second away.
“For a long time, there was no consistency as to who they put in their second car.
“Liam is on the brunt of it. It’s not Liam’s fault really. They give him time? I don’t know. But it’s a difficult watch.”
Laura Winter added:
“It looks like an impossible challenge. You have a car that was shaking, built and manufactured for four-time champions.
“No2 seat, nothing designed for you. You will enter as the virtual No2. That’s it. You have to play that role.
“Is the Racing Bulls faster than the Red Bull?
“Already, there are rumours that Lawson will be replaced for good, just like Japan. But does Tsunoda want to drive Red Bull?
“All drivers on the grid will say, ‘I can do a better job.’
“But instead of blaming drivers, as we tend to do, perhaps the question is about how the team operates and how that second seat culture works.”
Red Bull is ruthlessly merciless with patience with two team drivers.
Albon, Pierre Gasly and Ricciardo are among the drivers who were bitten by the opportunity to successfully complete their Formula 1 careers.
At the end of last season, Perez lost his seat due to consistently failing to score points.
