Reinier de Ridder and Bo Nickal have a common enemy.
In May, “RDR” handed Nikkul the defeat of his first career in mixed martial arts, brutally courting the former Nittany Lion in the second round of the UFC Des Moines co-main event.
Now Dutchman wants to train with Nikkar in the hopes of having a world-class wrestler shot to be a man to defeat Kamza Chimaev, the newly created middleweight world title holder.
“I’ve got everything I need this morning at least, but I might see if I can get a little more wrestler,” De Ridder told MMA Junkie. “There are already a lot. If we could kick him out, we were going to send a message to Bo Nikkal. That’s amazing. It’s especially amazing at this fight. We’ll see. It’s pretty cool.”
The battle between Chimaev and Nikkal seems inevitable, but the three-time NCAA Division I champion has something to do before getting a crack in UFC Gold. But De Ridder could be one big victory away from a showdown against the undefeated Chechnya monster.
Reinier de Ridder meets “fluffy” Hernandez in Vancouver
After winning the split decision victory over Abu Dhabi’s Robert Whitaker, “RDR” faced the top five middleweight divisions and became a contender for the instant title. Now, he will try to solidify himself as the next man when he meets Anthony Hernandez, a 185-pound sense at the headliner at UFC Vancouver on October 18th.
Earlier this month, “Fluffy” offered an absolutely dominant performance against Rome’s Drizze in Las Vegas, extending his unbeaten streak to 8, improving his record within the Octagon to 9-2.
