Manager Christian Falk has firmly denied reports that Bayern Munich have added Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes to their transfer list.
Contrary to claims that have been circulating in recent days, Bayern are not actively interested in signing the Portuguese playmaker, who is believed to be seeking a better deal at Old Trafford.
Fernandes’ name naturally carries weight in European football discussions, but insiders claim Bayern’s supposed interest is either exaggerated or, more blatantly, being used as part of a negotiating tactic by the player’s camp.
Fernandes is reportedly on the radar of the German champions, but Falk has denied the reports.
Bayern Munich not interested in signing Bruno Fernandes
Bayern executives reportedly completely denied the story, telling journalists that the speculation was “not true”.
Under sporting directors Max Hebert and Christoph Freund, Bayern Munich are targeting young up-and-comers rather than highly paid veterans.
Fernandes, 31, remains one of Man United’s most productive and influential players, but his current contract and wage package pose an obstacle for potential suitors.
Bayern’s leaders have made it clear in recent months that the club intends to reduce the salary structure after years of soaring wages under the previous government.
Acquiring an expensive, high-profile player like Fernandes, regardless of his qualifications, would contradict that strategy.
Fernandes is at a key stage in his career and it is thought his agent may be hinting at a better deal with United.

Linking the player to Bayern’s prestigious club could give his camp more leverage in negotiations over a contract extension or salary increase.
This tactic is not uncommon in top-level football, with transfer speculation often used as a negotiating tool.
It’s also worth noting that Bayern’s current midfield options, such as Jamal Musiala, Leon Goretzka and Aleksandar Pavlovic, offer a balance of creativity and youth.
Bayern are expected to focus on defensive reinforcements and wider attacking options for the next window, rather than bringing in an older, attack-minded midfielder.
Falk said there was “no” chance that Bayern Munich would make a move for Fernandes at this point.
The Portuguese midfielder was heavily pursued by the Saudi Professional League in the summer, but his wife inspired him to decide to stay at United.
