Manchester United are interested in signing Atletico Madrid midfielder Conor Gallagher in the January transfer window.
According to a report from Football Insider, they have received the green light from manager Ruben Amorim to sign the 25-year-old England international.
Gallagher has not started regularly for Atletico Madrid and has been linked with a return to the Premier League in recent months. It will be interesting to see if Manchester United can get a deal done. Additional charges may apply for relocation.
Conor Gallagher would be a great addition
Gallagher has proven his quality in English football with Chelsea and Crystal Palace. If Manchester United are able to conclude a deal, there is no doubt that it will be an unusual acquisition for Manchester United. He will add physicality, work rate and defensive cover to the side.
The hard-working midfielder could add a new dimension to Manchester United’s midfield. He knows the league well and could make an immediate impact at Old Trafford. It remains to be seen whether Manchester United will be able to submit an acceptable offer for the player in the coming weeks.
A move to Manchester United could be ideal for Gallagher
Gallagher is keen to play regularly and a return to the Premier League could be ideal for him. If he can perform well for Manchester United in the second half of the season, he could cement his place in the England squad for the upcoming World Cup.
The 25-year-old is highly regarded across Europe, with several clubs interested in signing him. Manchester United should try to act quickly if they want to get a deal done. Gallagher has been hailed as an “invaluable” player by manager Mauricio Pochettino in the past.
It will be interesting to see if Manchester United can get a deal over the line.
