Manchester United manager Reuben Amorim reportedly has asked the club to make two midfield signs this summer.
It was a disastrous campaign at Old Trafford, with the Red Devils in 14th place in the Premier League table, with a total of 15 leagues lost so far.
It’s clear that Amorim will need to give his time at Man UTD, as he inherited a struggling team full of poor signatures made under his predecessor, Eric Ten Hag.
Portuguese tacticians want to change the midfield and appear to have two ambitious targets in mind in the summer.
According to TeamTalk, the two names he hopes are Bruno Guimaras of Newcastle and Adam Wharton of Crystal Palace.
Can Manchester United stop the stunning Bruno Guimarès and Adam Wharton transfer?
At the time, we often found United to sign some of the best players from other Premier League clubs, but could they still lure Guimarè and Wharton to Old Trafford?
With Newcastle currently in fifth place, it doesn’t seem like Guimarre is taking a step forward in his career by swapping the Magpie for the Red Devils.
Brazil International is likely to be very expensive anyway, and MUFC has been suffering from some economic problems recently.
Wharton may be more realistic as the palace is on the rather standard mid-table side and often ends up cashing out to their star players.
Still, United can do it with both players and now they don’t look so realistic for them to achieve this dream double deal.
Guimares appears to be a good fit for Amorim’s playstyle. So it would be interesting to look at this story.
Even if United can’t get a Newcastle midfielder, he’s definitely going to be someone in demand anyway, so perhaps other teams will be on the run for his signature.
