Leon Bailey’s days at Aston Villa are reportedly being on the verge of Jamaican wingers in the face of a pro-Saudi Arabia move.
According to The Sun, the newly promoted Saudi Arab League side Neom SC has given a sophisticated speech to sign the 27-year-old, and the deal could be finalized within days.
Bailey arrived at Villa Park in 2021 on a £25 million move from Bayer Leverkusen, advertised as one of the club’s most exciting signatures.
His first season was inconsistent due to injury and adaptation challenges, but the 2023/24 campaign marked a breakthrough.
Leon Bailey has no future for Aston Villa
The attackers helped Villa qualify for the Champions League, but in 2024/25 he lost his position on the team due to new arrivals such as Marcus Rashford and Marco Asensio.
Despite his previous contributions, it is becoming increasingly clear that Jamaican international is no longer at the heart of Emery’s tactical plan.
He began 14 Premier League matches on the Premier League side in the 2024/25 season.
Saudi Arabian side Neom SC is currently offering him the opportunity to revive his career from the Premier League.
The potential move towards Neom SC offers Bailey a fresh start and a significant financial boost.
The Saudi Arabian club has recently won promotion to top flight after winning the First Division League, but is reportedly ready to offer the winger a contract worth up to £10 million a year.
Emery is about to make a profit this summer
Meanwhile, Aston Villa is in the position to recover nearly £25 million from the transfer, and is a fund that proves important as the club appears to comply with the Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR).
Recruiting from Saudi clubs over the past few seasons has provided many players with the opportunity to revive their careers, and Bailey could be the latest player.
Aston Villa is currently exploring the opportunity to sign Manchester United winger Alejandro Garnacho this summer.
If Emiliano Martinez leaves the club, Emery may also need to look for a new goalkeeper.
