Aston Villa is reportedly ready to sell its women’s team for £100 million to avoid potential PSR issues.
Villa previously found herself under pressure to sell players. Both Douglas Lewis and Omari Kellyman left Villa Park last summer.
Ultimately, the villa was able to keep itself on the right side of the Premier League Financial Fair Play Rules, but it could require more action.
Also, a surprise report from Football Insider shows that AVFC is ready to make a big decision to win cash for women’s teams in £100 million.
Chelsea have done this before, but we still don’t know how it will go down with the club’s fans.
Women at Aston Villa reportedly are for sale
When women’s football has come and become so popular, the use of women’s teams like this seems to be the subject of controversy from the villa.
It will be interesting to see if this will definitely be done, but there have been similar reports previously suggesting that they are investigating this as an option.
Still, it’s certainly better for Villa to stay within PSR rules with its spending control and having a sustainable adoption model.
Villa has come a long way under manager Unai Emery and sports director Monki, so perhaps soon they will be in a position to avoid such a dramatic measure.
