Aston Villa is reportedly ready to make the surprising decision to sell goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez for just £30 million this summer.
Argentina International has been a very important player for villas in recent years, and I imagine there will be many suitors if it becomes available this summer.
Still, according to a report from Football Insider, Villa appears happy with making Martinez surprisingly cheap.
The villa certainly could have asked Martinez for more, but the club also has some pressure on them to balance the book in line with financial fair play regulations.
That could mean that cashing Martinez with any kind of reasonable fee is more important than allowing Saga to drag him in by giving him more money.
Emiliano Martinez was able to leave Aston Villa this summer
Villa fans aren’t too keen to see big guys like Martinez leaving the club, but this seems likely to become more and more likely.
The former Arsenal goalkeeper has enjoyed an incredible rise in recent years as he struggled to play before while at Emirates Stadium.
However, it would be interesting to feel that AVFC feels right when it finally gets the 32-year-old and replaces him with a younger, longer-term option.
Can I replace Martinez with a villa?
According to X’s Fabrizio Romano, there was a link to the highly rated Espanyol Goalkeeper Joan Garcia recently in that Villa, which replaces Martinez, will replace Martinez.
Garcia is certainly an exciting talent and it may be worth letting go of Martinez if he feels that Villa can get him.
There may not be another opportunity to dive for Garcia. Garcia will continue to attract attention from other big clubs in the near future.
