Aston Villa and Besiktas are reportedly planning to hold discussions on a swap transfer transaction involving Doniel Maren and Semi-Kiriksoy.
According to a report from Turkish outlet Axham, there is interest in the Villa and other Premier League clubs such as Newcastle United and Leeds United.
It also appears that Villa may use Maren as a make-up grade this summer in Kiriksoy’s deal.
This is despite Maren’s move to Villa Park in January, despite his move from Borussia Dortmund.
It’s probably fair to say that the Netherlands International has been a bit overwhelmed by the villas so far. So it probably makes sense that Unai Emery is ready to let him go.
Does Aston Villa offload Doniel Maren with swap transfers?
Maren had some good moments during his time in Dortmund, but before leaving in January he lost his favor slightly.
It’s easy to see why he’s not contributing enough to the villa. Moving to a competitive league, like Turkey’s top flight, could make sense as his next step at this stage of his career.
There may be some villa fans who are disappointed to see Maren’s holiday. Perhaps there is a debate to help a 26-year-old stay a little longer so that he can settle for British football a little.
Kirik Soi looks like an exciting talent, but AVFC can do well to take him along as an upgrade to Emery’s attack.
