Barcelona have reportedly made an opening offer to Crystal Palace’s Colombian right-back Daniel Muñoz.
Spanish outlet Fichajes reports that the Spanish giants have made an offer of £26 million for the 29-year-old.
Barcelona move to sign Crystal Palace star Daniel Muñoz
The bid marks an aggressive move by the Catalan giants to secure a natural and proven presence on the right flank, with new manager Hansi Flick reportedly making reinforcements a priority.
There are other players interested in the player, with La Liga giants Atletico Madrid also interested in signing Muñoz, but Deco is said to be accelerating his pursuit to land the player before competition begins.
However, Crystal Palace have no intention of selling the player unless they receive a “concrete offer”. The Colombian is under contract with the Eagles until 2028, meaning the Premier League side will have control over his future.
Crystal Palace will also lose Marc Gehi in the summer
Marc Göch’s dream move to Liverpool was thwarted by Crystal Palace on deadline day, with the club insisting they would see out the remainder of his contract.
Despite the transfer setback, the England international has maintained his high standards and continues to play a key role at the heart of Palace’s defence.
Manager Oliver Glasner subsequently confirmed that Gehi would leave the club at the end of this season and that there were no plans to extend his current contract.
Interest in the defender remains strong. Liverpool are expected to rekindle their pursuit, but face stiff competition from European giants Barcelona and Real Madrid, who are monitoring his situation closely.
Palace could face defensive rebuild this summer
Crystal Palace are preparing for a potentially transformative summer as they look set to lose two key defenders in Guehi and Muñoz.
Both players have contributed to Coach Glasner’s structure, and their departure could leave a significant gap in both leadership and tactical structure.
If both players left at the same time, the Eagles would lose much of their established backline leadership and quality, forcing the club to undergo an extensive and costly defensive rebuild.
