Chelsea reportedly in contact with AC Milan about the potential movement of French goalkeeper Mike Maignan.
There appears to be uncertainty about Mainyan’s future in Sansilo, and I imagine him having plenty of suitors if he leaves this summer.
Chelsea appears to be one of the main clubs interested in the 29-year-old along with Aston Villa, but Milan will likely demand around 40 million euros to let him go.
Chelsea appears to have the most specific interest for the time being. This makes sense because it is urgently necessary to upgrade the struggling Robert Sanchez.
Still, the report says that despite Unai Emery already having the amazing Emiliano Martinez calling him as his number one, the villa seems to be there too.
From Mike Meignan to Chelsea or Aston Villa?
Meignan may be keen on new challenges in a few years in Milan. The Premier League is undoubtedly the pinnacle of soccer around the world.
France International certainly wants to play at a very high level.
Still, it’s not always that easy to choose between Chelsea and the Villa for now.
The CFC may have been a larger and more successful name in recent decades, but they are undergoing a transitional period under new ownership.
Villa, on the other hand, is a huge number of clubs, and it may be appealing to see Meignan linking with proven top coaches like Emery.
That being said, Martinez’s presence is certainly a problem. If he goes to Chelsea, Mainyan is certainly much more likely to be number one.
Sanchez is poor on Enzo Maresca’s part, so if replaced by a proven elite keeper like Maignan, it could work well for all involved parties.
