Crystal Palace defender Mark Guech was heavily linked to his move away from the club during the summer transfer.
However, despite the two clubs agreeing on fees, the deadline move to Liverpool collapsed. The player also received medical attention in the Premier League champions. Crystal Palace pulled out the plug of the deal after failing to secure his replacement.
Multiple clubs enthusiastic about Marc Guehi
According to TBR Football, multiple clubs were monitoring his situation and were able to move for him at the end of the season. He became a free agent in the summer and signing a player of his quality on a free transfer is very appealing.
According to the report, Chelsea, Manchester United and Tottenham were able to take part in a fierce race to sign the 25-year-old England International. Liverpool is expected to return for him too. It would be interesting to see where the players are.
Chelsea looked very vulnerable defensively last season and need to improve in that area of the pitch. Bringing a former academy player back to the club could prove ideal. He will be an upgrade of some of their current options.
Liverpool will need to plan a departure for Ibrahi Maconate, who will become a free agent next summer. He has not yet signed an extension with the club.
Meanwhile, Manchester United need another reliable defender who can replace Harry Maguire in the long run. Guehi has the quality and leadership skills to fit in with his role.
As for Tottenham, they have two quality central defenders at their disposal, with the likes of Christian Romeo and Mickey Van de Ben struggling with injuries last season. They need more options than they can at their disposal.
Where will Guehi end?
Graeme Bailey revealed: “Of course, Liverpool will be back for him. But they know they offer a lot of clubs. Now, with Guehi, it resets everything.
“The Guehi people already know clubs that have said that clubs like Barcelona, Bayern Munich and Real Madrid will make offers next summer.”
“In the UK, let’s see where Tottenham finished. They love him as a player. Will Chelsea enter the equation with free transfers? Of course they will.
He has been one of the best defenders in the Premier League for the past 12 months and helped Crystal Palace win the FA Cup and Community Shield. He is definitely a high-quality player enough to play for the largest club in the country. He was able to improve all three clubs. If they want to fight for a major trophy, they need to tighten up in the back, and signing England International is a wise decision.
You cannot take over the opportunity to sign a player of his quality with free transfers. It could prove to be a tremendous bargain for all three clubs. It is not yet known that players will decide in the summer.
