Crystal Palace defender Mark Guech was unable to secure a move to Liverpool on the deadline day after the Eagles pulled the plug in a deal late.
The two clubs agreed to a £35 million contract for the players, and the defender also had medicine in the Premier League champions. However, Crystal Palace was unable to ensure a proper replacement and had to cancel the move.
Manager Oliver Glasner threatened to leave the club if he sold Guehi without signing the appropriate replacement. According to Danny Murphy, defenders are devastated by circumstances. Murphy feels that if a player is seriously injured between the current and January transfer period, he may not have another opportunity to join an elite club like Liverpool.
What Liverpool did late led to Mark Guech’s falling into the move
Mark Guehe will be disappointed
Murphy said: “I think Guehi will be devastated. I’m sure Liverpool will return in January, but this opportunity may not come again.
“But he was able to do his ACL, he may not be able to get this chance in his life again.”
It will be interesting to see how the situation develops. He will become a free agent at the end of the season and Liverpool may try to sign him with a future bargain.
What Guehi is trying to do
Meanwhile, Talksport reports say the player is disappointed with the situation, but he is pleased to see his contract with the London Club. The 25-year-old is unlikely to cause a fuss after something happens on the deadline.
It’s no surprise that England International has been thoroughly professional throughout the Servan Saga and decided to look at the rest of the deal with the club rather than causing any issues after his move was rejected.
He still hopes to secure a big move in the near future. There’s no doubt he’s one of the best central defenders in the league. He was able to prove to be an exceptional addition for most teams.
