Arsenal and Chelsea are linked to the moves of Club Bruges defender Joel Ordnes, and the Ecuadorian could be sold in the summer.
According to a report by Fichajes, both clubs are interested in South America at 20, and it will be interesting to see where he ends. Ordonez has received high praise in Europe and it’s no surprise that the top Premier League clubs are enthusiastic about him.
He has the attributes that develop into a top-class Premier League defender, and the opportunity to move to Arsenal and Chelsea is very appealing to him. Both clubs have been doing well over the years to groom talented young players and have also been able to play an important role in his development.
He is also linked to clubs such as Newcastle United and Aston Villa.
Arsenal hopes to win the league title and the Champions League. They need a better quality, deeper team, and 20-year-olds will be a long-term investment for them. Similarly, Chelsea may need to trade players like Benoit Badiashile and Axel Disasi in the summer. Wesley Fofana’s time at the club has also been suffering from injuries. Signing a quality central defender is a priority for them.
Club Bruges is ready to sell Joel Ordnes
It will be interesting to see which of the two clubs has completed the transaction. The 20-year-old was able to do quality well in the Premier League as he could grow into a future star.
Club Bruges manager Nikki Hayen admitted in December that he “liked” to sell players at the end of the season. He made it clear that South Americans are very professional despite the transfer link. That’s certainly a huge positive for a club that wants to sign him.
It remains to be seen whether any of the two Premier League clubs will be able to negotiate a reasonable deal for him in the summer.
