Bayer Leverkusen is interested in signing Chelsea goalkeeper Djorjde Petrovic at the end of the season.
The 25-year-old goalkeeper is currently on loan at French club Strasbourg and has been doing very well this season. The goalkeeper has 10 clean sheets in his name. The German champions are keen to secure his signature and it will be interesting to see if they can get the deal done.
A report from Kicker claims he is willing to spend a significant amount of money on the 25-year-old. The goalkeeper may not be a key player for Chelsea and may not be a regular starter for the upcoming season. It makes sense for the London Club to cash in him and invest revenues in a new goalkeeper.
Djordje Petrovic could help Chelsea
They need to bring an upgrade to Robert Sanchez in the summer. It remains to be seen whether the Blues are ready to give Petrovic a regular start opportunity next season. In that case, a 25-year-old can stay at Stamford Bridge.
Either way, he will try to organize his future in the summer and focus on his football. He needs to stay at a club he plays regularly. If Chelsea can’t offer him the opportunity, he should aim to leave in the summer. The 25-year-old must play regularly at this stage of his career, and sitting on the bench for a big club is unlikely to benefit him.
Players have recently been linked to Aston Villa.
As for Leverkusen, they are trying to improve their teams over the summer, and signing quality goalkeepers is a priority for them. It will be interesting to see if they can convince Chelsea to sell players in the summer.
