Atletico Madrid hopes to sign Rodrigo Bentanchour from Tottenham Hotspur in the coming months.
The 28-year-old midfielder will become a free agent in the summer of 2026 and may be on sale in January. Spurs won’t want to lose players on a free transfer next summer. The Spanish outfit is trying to use his contract status to sign the player, according to Fichaje.
He was able to prove that he was a great addition to them at a reasonable price. He has demonstrated his abilities in the UK and can become an important player for Atletico Madrid.
Rodrigo Bentancur is a convenient option
Argentine manager Marcelo Bielsa has previously named him a “great player.” There’s no doubt he has the quality to do well in La Liga. He also has experience and technical capabilities that will immediately impact him.
It will be interesting to see if Tottenham is ready to move him ahead in January. Losing him for free in the summer will be a blow to them. It’s no surprise that they decide to cash in South America.
Can the Spurs replace Bentanchour?
If the midfielder moves, it will be interesting to see if Tottenham can bring quality alternatives. More quality and depth is needed in the middle of the park.
The Spurs are aiming to compete for the trophy this season, and need a better, deeper team. Losing a player like him would be a blow to them. It would be interesting to see if he could replace him mid-season. Replacing key players in January can be difficult.
Atletico Madrid hopes to agree to a reasonable deal with Premier League clubs over the next few months.
