Liverpool’s pursuit of Crystal Palace Captain Mark Guech is not over.
After the dramatic collapse of the deadline, a new revelation shows that Red has kept the door open, actively communicating with the 25-year-old, placing himself for another move in January.
The Reds worked in the summer transfer window and broke transfer records twice with signatures they made.
Florian Wirtz, Hugo Ekitike and Alexander Isak were the signatures they made this summer, but there was another player who was strongly linked to the move to Anfield this summer.
Liverpool missed Mark Guech’s signature
Prior to his travel to Liverpool, Guech, the captain of Crystal Palace, was receiving medical care.
Palace ultimately decided to pull the contract plug as manager Oliver Glasner strongly opposed the idea that his team captain would leave the club.
However, Reds are still interested in Guehi’s moves and are opening a dialogue with him about the January window movement, according to Football Insider.
Despite the set-off, Liverpool remains the front runner for Guehi’s signature.
According to transfer correspondent Pete O’Rourke, the club is still engaged in “open dialogue” with the defender, eager to rekindle negotiations in January, or even repeating it as a free agent in the summer.
Crystal Palace lowered its demand
Importantly, the palace reportedly has significantly removed demand from £35 million in the summer to about £25 million in January.
Liverpool may not have all their methods. Rival clubs such as Real Madrid, Barcelona and Bayern Munich are said to have stepped into the arena since January with promises to negotiate.
