Manchester United reportedly is monitoring Ivan Tony ahead of potential moves this summer.
The 29-year-old has been very good since joining Alari in Saudi Arabia, scoring 30 goals in all competitions last season.
He is keen to return to the Premier League, and soccer insider Mick Brown has revealed that Manchester United is watching him. He added that the movement of experienced strikers is possible.
Summer moves possibilities
Brown said: “Man United was watching him. My sources are telling me, they think he can still play at the top level.
“From what I said, he’s probably interested in returning to the Premier League.
“It’s possible because they see him as a clear upgrade to what they have.”
Manchester United believes he will be an upgrade to his current options. It is still unclear whether they will be able to complete the deal. Al-Ahli may not want to lose a player like him. They don’t have to sell and develop players. Manchester United may find it difficult to convince them.
They certainly hope that the players will push the exit. It can make their work easier.
Man United need Ivan Tony
This summer they need quality strikers this summer, in the way Joshua Zilky and Rasmus Hozilund performed last season. Both players are overwhelming and Tony could prove to be their upgrade. He knows the league well and has previously shown his quality in Brentford and the Premier League. He ran alongside Manchester United and hit the ground.
They are struggling and going through a period of rebuilding, but Manchester United is the largest club in the world. Strikers may be seduced to join them this summer.
It will be interesting to see how the situation develops. Manchester United will need to improve their team if they want to bounce back strong next season. Quality strikers could prove to be a game-changing addition to them.
Chelsea had been linked to him a few months ago.
