According to journalist Ben Jacobs, Manchester United took the position to pursue Brian Mbeumo this summer to push past interests from Tottenham and order them.
Jacobs told the United Stand that Mbeumo has made his preference clear, and Tottenham’s interest exists, but “Thomas Frank’s expected arrival is not expected to affect this.”
After the capture of Matheus Cunha from the wolf, United are targeting another offensive reinforcement that can be manipulated behind the striker.
Man United is about to sign Mbeumo this summer
Mbeumo fits perfectly with its vision. This is a versatile forward that can be played broadly or centrally, both with creativity and direct target threats.
Brentford rejected United’s first bid, reportedly a £45 million add-on to £10 million, and is said to be valued Mbeumo for around £60 million
Mbeumo himself reportedly has his salary expectations of around £250,000 per week, with his current wages of £50,000 rising fivefold.
His impressive 2024–25 campaign boasted 20 Premier League goals and seven assists, ranking only for goals such as Mohamed Sarah, Alexander Isaac and Ehling Haaland.
Thomas Frank’s future will not affect Mbuemo
Jacobs told the United Stand: “The Spurs, like any club, know that Brian Mbeumo’s choice to join Man United.
Tottenham is closely monitoring Mbeumo and appears to be taking part in a race with Man United to sign a multi-purpose attacker as Frank’s edging approaches his move to North London.
Despite the possibility of Frank’s presence with the Spurs, United still leads the race to sign Mbeumo.
Brentford’s manager Frank praised Mbeumo for calling him an “incredible player.”
