Manchester United signed Ivan Toney in the January transfer window and have expressed an interest in strengthening their attacking line-up.
According to Football Insider, there are rumors that the player could leave the Saudi Arabian club on loan in January. Chelsea also appears to be interested in Tony.
Manchester United focus on Ivan Toney transfer
Manchester United are monitoring his situation and are keen to sign him. The 29-year-old is a key player for Al Ahly and could be a great addition for Manchester United. He has nine goals in 11 games this season and could be the ideal partner for Benjamin Sesco.
He previously demonstrated his quality with Brentford in the Premier League. There’s no doubt he’ll be an upgrade over Joshua Zirkzee. It will be interesting to see if Manchester United can get a deal done.
Al Ahly may not let Tony leave
Manager Pete O’Rourke insisted the striker’s return to the Premier League was unlikely and the Saudi Arabian team would not want to lose an “important figure” like him. It will be interesting to see how the situation develops.
“I would be surprised if he returned to the Premier League. He has been a very important person for Al Ahly since he moved to the professional league,” the player said.
“I don’t think they’re going to let Ivan Toney leave midway through the season.”
Manchester United would certainly want to sign him. A return to England could also be ideal for the striker. It could help him cement his place in England’s squad for the next World Cup.
Toney has been in final form since his move to Saudi Arabia and could make an immediate impact in the Premier League. Manchester United need a player of his quality if they want to bounce back from a disappointing start to the season. They need to improve their squad in January as they aim to secure a top-four finish.
