Manchester United are linked to the movement of Aston Villa striker Ollie Watkins.
Fitches reports that Manchester United are exploring a market for reliable strikers, and the name of the English international striker has appeared. He is considered a serious option to strengthen their attacking units.
Man United need a reliable finisher
Manchester United have been unable to find a reliable scorer despite spending a fair amount of money on Joshua Zilky and Rasmus Hozilund. Meanwhile, Watkins has been a reliable performer in the Premier League since joining Aston Villa. He is undoubtedly one of the best strikers in the league and could be a great addition for Manchester United.
The player is at the peak of his strength, and if he joined the club he could immediately make an impact at Old Trafford. Watkins is labelled as “a great player.”
But Aston Villa doesn’t want to sell the 29 year old easily. He is an important asset to the club and they will struggle to seek European qualifications without him next season.
Ollie Watkins could be seduced
It will be interesting to see if Manchester United decided to test Aston Villa’s resolve with an offer to striker. It shouldn’t be too difficult to convince him to join the club. This could be Watkins’ last opportunity to play for an elite club and he might be seduced to join Manchester United.
He has been repeatedly linked to Arsenal over the years.
The 29-year-old striker scored 17 goals last season and also scored 14 assists. He’s more than just a reliable goal scorer. He adds creativity to the final third.
Manchester United finished in the lower half of the league table last season, and they’ll start bouncing hard. People like Watkins can help them turn it around.
