Manchester United’s plans to sign Victor Osimchen this summer may be in serious danger.
Despite a very overwhelming season in which the Danish striker endured a painful goal drought, reports suggest that he is more likely to remain at Old Trafford than he actually leaves.
That could be a problem for Mann United, who was desperately trying to raise money and was being tipped to offload Hoilund to help fund the Osimhen deal.
“I received an offer from Arsenal, but came out of a strange meeting with Arsen Wenger.”
Since moving 75 million euros from Atalanta in 2023, Hozilund has struggled to justify the price tag. He finally managed to break his barren spell in front of the goal, but his numbers are still miles from their main striker from what United need. Naturally, that leads to speculation about the exit, and the club is paying attention to his availability.
Importantly, the club has not yet made a solid decision. When the right offer came, they were able to let him go. Otherwise, he could stay and throw a spanner at Man United’s Osimen plan.
Victor Osimhen from Man United is at risk now
United have been linking with Osimhen for several months. Nigerians are considered elite strikers they desperately need, and there have even been rumours that United could try to offer Hozilund and Alejandro Garnacho in a swap deal with Napoli.
The idea may sound exaggerated, but athletic Laurie Whitwell claims it cannot be completely ruled out. However, if Hojlund remains on it, Red Devils will need to find another way to give up Osimhen’s cash.
According to Givemesport, the reality is that Hojlund is more likely to stay than go. That means United may have to rethink their entire approach to signing Osimhen.
For now, if Man United really wants a striker, they either need to find a buyer for Hodzilund or dig deeper into the already growing finances. Otherwise, their dream signature may slip through their fingers.
