Newcastle United will be interested in signing Marseille defender Michael Amir Murillo at the end of the season.
The 29-year-old fullback works very well in his French outfit, and his performance has attracted the attention of Aston Villa.
According to a report by Fútbol Centroamérica, the two Premier League clubs want to complete the transaction for experienced defenders. It will be interesting to see who wins the race for his signature.
It’s no secret that Newcastle needs quality right away. Kieran Trippier is on the Twilight stage of his career and he needs to be replaced. The 29-year-old defender was able to compete with Tino Libramento in his starting spot next season.
Newcastle could potentially compete in the Champions League next year, and needs a better, deeper team. The Ligue 1 defenders could prove to be the ideal acquisition for them. He has the physicality and technical attributes to make it work in the Premier League. He has also played magpies.
Aston Villa also wants to sign Michael Amir Murillo
Similarly, Aston Villas can use more quality with defensive units. Matty Cash and Andres Garcia have not been consistent this season. It remains to be seen whether the West Midlands Club can bring about an upgrade.
Both clubs have financial muscles that seduce Marseille into selling players. It will be interesting to see where Murillo ends.
He’s certainly attracted to the idea of playing in the Premier League. This may be his last chance to play in major European leagues. He is at the peak of his strength and he wants to secure a big move this summer.
