Manchester United reportedly views UNAI Emery as a serious administrative alternative if they decide to move on from the current boss ruben Amorim.
According to Givemesport, Emery, currently at Aston Villa, is considered United’s “top target” if the hierarchy chooses to change the dugout.
The Red Devils are struggling again this season, with Amorim winning just one of the five games their team has played this season.
Man United’s struggle refuses to end
The defeats against Arsenal, Grimsby and Manchester City once again exposed United’s weaknesses.
He’s been asked about Amorim and whether he can improve his team’s standards after being in charge of the club for almost a year since Erik Ten Hag’s dismissal.
Emery is not only seen as a stop gap, but also as someone with a proven track record of turning the club around. For example, since joining Aston Villa in October 2022, Emery has overseen the monumental rise, from his fight against relegation to challenge European qualifications.
Villa also extended his contract to 2027 and beyond, reflecting their belief in his management style and structure.
Emery is a top-class, experienced manager
What makes Emery an attractive option is his adaptability. Unlike Amorim, who looked more strict in tactical form and resisted the call for change, Emery showed the ability to coordinate formations with the villa, spin players and achieve strong results even when resources and momentum are not perfect.
However, tapping emery can have complications of its own. Villa now holds him in a long-term deal. This means United will need to negotiate or compensate with the villa.
Amorim’s watches at the club are engraved with clocks, and there are reports that managers support the club’s hierarchy, but some more outcomes against United will put even more pressure on the Portuguese manager.
With the player getting frustrated by Amorim and the manager being tactically questioned, it appears he has a mountain to climb United to save his job.
