Arsenal is in a key position to secure the signature of athletic club winger Nico Williams and reportedly does not cause obstacles to the gunners.
Spain International has attracted interest from several top European clubs, including Chelsea and Barcelona, but Arsenal’s current financial position leaves them ahead of the competition.
According to Football Transfer, Williams is currently tied to an annual contract with the Athletic Club, earning around 200,385 euros (£171,000) per week. but,
“I received an offer from Arsenal, but came out of a strange meeting with Arsen Wenger.”
Arsenal is said to be ready to offer a salary of £200,000 a week on a five-year contract, bringing annual revenue to £10.4 million. Reports suggest that his representatives have already indicated that the offer is acceptable if he chooses to move to North London.
One important advantage Arsenal has in this race is the substantial wage space that will be released this summer. With the departures of Kieran Tierney (£110,000 per week), Thomas Partey (£200,000 per week), and Jorginho (£110,000 per week), the club will clear a total wage of £420,000 per week.
Both Chelsea and Barcelona face significant financial constraints that could limit their ability to make competitive offers, but Arsenal’s smart financial planning puts them in a strong position. In particular, Barcelona is working on strict pay caps in La Liga, hindering its ability to register new signatures.
Chelsea have financial fair play concerns in front of summer window
Meanwhile, concerns about Chelsea’s ongoing financial fair play, exacerbated by luxury spending, have also limited flexibility in the transfer market.
Despite initial reports suggesting that Arsenal could struggle to meet Williams’ wage expectations, conversations have already been held in the player’s camp, and financial conditions are not considered to be a stumbling block if he decides to move to the Premier League.
Now Williams is still weighing his options, and a summer transfer is increasingly likely. Football Transfers previously reported that Arsenal’s newly appointed sports director Andrea Berta had made Williams his number one target in his first transfer window at the club.
