According to L’Equipe, Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United are interested in signing Rennes Striker Arnaud Kalimuendo.
The 23-year-old French attacker has had an impressive season, and he has proven to be a quality long-term acquisition for the two clubs. He has the attributes of success in British football and has the physicality to adapt to the Premier League as well.
Kalimuendo has recently been linked to Arsenal. The attackers were on Leeds United’s radar before joining Rennes.
Tottenham needs a deep attack
The striker scored 18 goals in all competitions last season, allowing him to improve Tottenham in the future. Dominique Solanke has not been able to score goals consistently, so he needs more help in the offense. The French attackers were able to compete with him and support him in the final third.
Tottenham will compete in the UEFA Champions League and are aiming to do well in domestic competitions. They need more depth on the sides to do well. Signing one of the most talented young attackers from Ligue 1 could prove to be a wise decision.
Convincing a 23-year-old to join the club may not be that difficult for Tottenham. They are attractive destinations and players try to test themselves at a high level.
New Kalimardo.
As far as Newcastle is concerned, they are overly dependent on Alexander Isaac. Swedish International was a world-class performer for them, but he needs more help from the attack. Newcastle has qualified for the Champions League and requires more teams in multiple competitions. They won’t be able to do well with just one reliable striker next season.
The 23-year-old could be an ideal acquisition for both clubs. It remains to be seen whether the French outfit is ready to sanction his departure.
