Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim took a break from speculations surrounding the future of club captain Bruno Fernandez and publicly reaffirmed the importance of the midfielder to his plans.
Speaking to the media, as reported by Fabrizio Romano, Amorim revealed that Fernandez is at the heart of the long-term vision he hopes to implement at Old Trafford.
“It’s true, Bruno is responsible. He’s really important to us.” Amorim said.
“He’s really important to what we want to build on this team.”
Bruno Fernandez is linked to the Old Trafford exit
Fernandez has been subject to transfer speculation in recent months, with interest reported by Saudi Arabia and several European giants in the United turbulent 2024/25 campaign.
Saudi Arabia’s Al Giral is seriously considering Fernandez’s move this summer.
On the European front, Bayern Munich praises United’s captain, especially after acknowledging the German giants’ pursuit of Florian Wiltz.
Despite the club’s struggles in the Premier League and inconsistent running in Europe, Fernandez continues to set an example with his commitment, creativity and leadership on the pitch.
The Portuguese midfielder has had an outstanding and charming season with the club, scoring 19 goals and offering 20 assists.
Amorim’s comments are not only a public faith show, but also a clear signal that it will be the basis for the Portuguese manager’s project as Fernandez begins to rebuild his team.
Man United wants to keep their leadership
Known for his focus on tactical discipline and structure, Amorim appears to see Fernandez as both a tactical asset and a cultural leader in the dressing room.
Fernandez’s role as a stabilization figure is very important as there are some changes expected to be made to United’s team this summer.
He is currently United’s best player, and that’s been a story since joining the club from the sport in 2020.
Losing him is a disastrous thing for the club, and that’s why Amorim is eager to keep him at Old Trafford.
