Manchester United may be looking forward to the Europa League final, but their domestic form under Reuben Amorim is actually slightly worse than the worst Premier League team ever.
Opta Joe’s stats show Amorim is currently averaging 0.92 points per game for Man UTD after a 1-0 loss to Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.
Surprisingly, this is actually lower than the 0.94 points per game that he was in charge of Derby County in 2007/08.
Just as Opta posted to the official Twitter account on X, please post to the official Twitter account below… See below…
United are safe from relegation. These numbers aren’t quite surprising as all three promoted aspects are already confirmed to be back soon.
Amorim has arrived with a big reputation and has a huge amount of money invested in this team, so they shouldn’t do anything worse than the Derby side, who has achieved a record low point total in the Premier League campaign.
Can Reuben Amorim turn things around with Manchester United?
Amorim has inherited a difficult job at Old Trafford, but fans will be expecting more from their former Sports Lisbon manager.
Even under Erik Ten Hag, things aren’t so bad, and the team managed to finish in the top half of the table last season under Dutch tacticians.
It would always take time for Amorim to implement his ideas, but this is now a bit ridiculous.
Amorim needs the Europa League to save a terrible season
Amorim will definitely need to win this season, and perhaps even his job, in order to save him.
Trophy is absolutely essential as Portuguese tacticians may already be in trouble after such a disastrous performance in the Premier League.
Still, MUFC also has the chance to qualify for the Champions League in a victory over the Spurs, and it will be difficult to see how this team can handle that level next season.
