Here is the driver evaluation for Conor McDona after the F1 Hungarian Galvanis.
McLaren driver Randnoris won the Budapest on Sunday ahead of his teammate Oscar Piastri.
But the best score we’ve cooked became the lower midfield star.
Also note the old heroes who deliver reminders of his past geniuses (unfortunately not Lewis Hamilton…)
Lando Norris -8
Randnoris claimed his fifth victory in the 2025 Formula 1 season. Norris took advantage of a lucrative one-stop strategy in hangering. Ironically, Norris’ defeat to Oscar Piastri and a terrible opening lap put him in top position to gamble with another strategy. To Norris’ achievements, he showed a great pace in the clear air.
Oscar Piastry-8.5
Piastri would have been disappointed that he lost to his Hungarian teammate Norris. He beat his teammates in qualifying and stayed in front of him on the opening lap. The only criticism of Piastri is that he didn’t get close enough to Leclair in his first stint.
George Russell – 9
It was no surprise to see George Russell return to the sharp edge of the field as Mercedes is more competitive in Hungary. He qualified within a tenth of his pole position and won the podium this year. This is a great weekend.

Charles Leclerc
Charles Leclerc-9
Leclerc produced perhaps the best rap of the 2025 Formula 1 season, beating two McLarens over Paul. He controlled the first half of the race and joined the mix to get Ferrari’s first victory of the year. But the chassis problem – Ferrari’s claim – was the cause of his sudden loss of pace in the final stint. Leclerc would have been given a rating of 9.5 if not due to his excessive offensive defense against Russell.
Fernando Alonso-9
Fernando Alonso continues to prove that age is merely a number. The two-time world champion would have been disappointed by missing Paul. His margin for teammate Lance’s walk was less than a tenth. Alonso was smart in the first stint of the race as he looked after the tires before implementing a one-stop strategy.
Gabriel Boltreto-9.5
There is a debate claiming Gabriel Boltreto is a rookie of the season. He currently scores three points in four races. He’s more than a match against Nico Halkenberg in qualifying.
Lance’s Walk – 7.5
Overall a solid weekend from the walk. He qualified within a tenth of Alonso. The walk recovered from the 7th ending from the start.
Liam Lawson – 8.5
Liam Lawson has been doing well recently. He scored three points in four races and made teammate Isack Hadjar better this weekend.
Max Verstappen -7.5
Max Verstappen and Red Bull weekend. Verstappen made no progress as they were hopelessly out of the pace.
Some Antonelli-6
Given that Mercedes form was picked up in Hungary, Kimi Antoneri was once again disappointed as they returned to the old suspension spec. He started the race from the 15th after being knocked out in the second quarter and the best laps were removed due to track restrictions. At least he left with points.
Isack Hadjar -7
Isack Hadjar’s tough race. His race looked compromised after his left hand was hit by gravel during the opening lap and then made him hurt.

Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen made contact
Lewis Hamilton – 5.5
Another hot weekend for Lewis Hamilton. He was knocked out in the second quarter and struggled in the race. Certainly, Ferrari’s strategy did not give him hope to finish in the top 10.
Nico Halkenberg – 5
Hulkenberg also endured a disastrous weekend. He was enigmatically imposed by a lack of pace in the first quarter. The German was then punished for a false start on the opening lap, ruining his chances for a point finish.
Carlos Sainz-7
Carlos Sign was Williams’ stronger driver this weekend. But they didn’t have the pace of Aston Martin or RB.
Alex Albon-6
Alex Albon left him behind in the grid as he was behind Sainz’s pace. He finished just behind his teammates at the Grand Prix.
Esteban Ocon-6
Like Hulkenberg, Esteban Ocon was surprised to see him far from the qualifying pace of his rookie teammate. Ocon drove a dissatisfied race and ended up finishing 16th.
Yuki Tsunoda – 6
Tsunoda enjoyed one of the best qualifying performances of the year. His best time in the first quarter was just over a tenth of Verstappen. However, Red Bull’s lack of pace meant he was knocked out in the first quarter. He started in the pit lane, but he made no progress.
Franco Flamento-6.5
A promising weekend from Franco Colapinto. He was faster than Pierre Guthrie in Hanger Rolling over the weekend.
Pierre Gasly -5
After some outstanding weekends, Guthrie was nowhere to be found in Hungary. He finished the end of 19 classified runners.
Ollie Bearman – 7
After a solid qualifying display, Ollie Bearman was forced to retire from the race due to a damaged undertray, after putting his Haas in 11th place on the grid.
