Former LA Lakers star Robert Holly hopes to reach out to Austin Reeves to discuss his postseason performance.
The Austin Raves admitted he wasn’t good enough and spoke after the La Lakers Game 5 defeat to the Minnesota Timberwolves.
The Reaves scored just 12 points in losses and continued their struggles in the series. He was a huge disappointment compared to his regular season form.
The physicality of the Timberwolves was involved in Reeves’ struggle, and his shooting abandoned him. Austin Reeves averaged 16.2 points per game in the series, compared to 20.2 pg in the regular season.
Former Lakers star Robert Holly, who spoke to the Lakers post-game show on Spectrum, broke down in the wrong place for Austin Reeves.
He noted that the more physical series caused him to hesitate and also noted his lack of free throws.
Reaves made no single free throw attempt in Game 4 or Game 5, but only had seven total in the first three games.
He influenced the score, with Reeves averaged five three throws per game this season, earning 4.1 pg.
Holly explained:
“You have the ability. With him, he’s used to calling and going to the free throw line. He’s switched his mindset.
“The phone calls you get in the regular season are not going to be in the playoffs.”
Robert Holly says Austin Reeves needed solid advice from someone who is not in the inner circle and provided his own service.
He states: “All Austin needs to do is sit down with the boys and someone outside the coaching staff and be honest with the series and how he played.
“Move, be aggressive, be quick. I know he’s not the fastest guy like Ant-Man (Anthony Edwards) like Kyrie (Irving).
“For me, Austin, you got my number, call me, I can tell you exactly what you need to improve my siblings.”
