Kawhi Leonard is currently in the headline.
Along with Kawi Leonard, owner of the Los Angeles Clippers, Steve Balmer also faces serious allegations from Pablotore.
The NBA is currently investigating Leonard’s involvement in the controversy. If convicted, the league may punish double the NBA champions by voiding their current contract with the Clippers.
In that scenario, Leonard becomes a 34-year-old free agent.
Since joining the Clippers, Leonard has consistently faced injuries. These repeated injuries have greatly distanced him from the team.
Six years later with the Clippers, Leonard played over 60 games only once. Putting that aside, what happens if Leonard is forced to become a free agent amid a debate of desire?
Is there a team waiting for him to sign on the dotted line? Los Angeles Lakers legend Robert Holly gave him two cents on the topic.
“He’s not the one who causes conflicts in your locker room. I think he’ll be 100% healthy this year,” Holly told the podcast.
He added: “I think a lot of his injuries stem from him coming back early, as I think he’s going through the stage where he’s coming back early.”
Sometimes, too early from an injury can cause more harm than good for the player. Holly considers this a prime example of this as Leonard prepares for the 2025-26 NBA season.
The LA Clippers are cooperating with the NBA’s investigation into the issue and reportedly show the seriousness of the situation.
Assuming the NBA will override Leonard’s current contract and force him to test a free agency, Horry believes Klaw has more complications.
“They’ll have to do that. Think about it, they’ll fine you (you’ll be $28 million, or something like that.”
“They don’t intend to make him a free agent because if he becomes a free agent, he’s well over $100 million,” Holly explained.
Well, that would be a serious financial set-off for Leonard. It’s no surprise that Leonard will mark the end of his NBA career.
