Robert Watley won the biggest career victory in the PFL World Tournament in Charlotte on Friday night, beating former Bellator standout Mads Burnell in a three-round TKO.
Burnell had some success in his stand-up and had crushed Watley’s nose early on, but it was “contact” that came up on the top with a sinister elbow near the midpoint of the final stanza.
Failing to fight Matt in the first two rounds, Burnell eventually gassed the third time, allowing Watley to unleash a massive amount of ground and pound strikes, stepping into the referee and calling for a halt.
Official Results: Robert Watley def. Mads Burnell via TKO (ground and pounds) at 2:43 in Round 3.
