Former Indian national cricket team skipper and selector Kris Srikanth has blamed Rohit Sharma for ODI and Test captain Shubman Gill’s flop show in the 50-over match against the Australian national cricket team.
Kris Srikanth said India’s new ODI captain Shubman Gill is struggling as he is under pressure after replacing a talented player like Rohit Sharma.
After performing in England, perhaps he is putting pressure on himself too – Kris Srikanth on Shubman Gill replacing Rohit Sharma
Test captaincy suited Shubman Gill very well as he scored 754 runs at an average of 75.40 in his debut series and led India to a 2-2 draw with the England national cricket team.

However, the beginning of his tenure as ODI captain was poor for Gill. He lost 1–2 in the series against Australia, scoring only 10, 9, and 24 points in the three games of the series.
Meanwhile, Rohit Sharma, who replaced Gill as captain ahead of the Australia tour, scored 202 runs in the series and won the Player of the Series award.
After the ODI series, Kris Srikanth opined that Rohit Sharma might be the reason for Gill’s failure. That’s because the youngster would have faced pressure to replace the legend as captain. he said:
“After his performance in England he’s probably putting pressure on himself. He should not do that and just play his game. In fact he played well today, but he’s just had a great performance from Hazlewood.
“It’s not so much that Shubman Gill got himself dismissed, but the wicket-taking shot that got him. But he looks like he’s under pressure. I’m just looking at his body language because he’s captaining in place of Rohit Sharma and opening alongside him at the same time.”
Meanwhile, everyone is asking why Yashasvi Jaiswal is not playing – Kris Srikanth
Not just Rohit Sharma, Kris Srikanth claimed that Yashasvi Jaiswal also indirectly played a role in Gill’s debacle. With Gill on the sidelines, the Indian captain is under pressure to perform well every time he is in the midfield.
“And on the other hand, everyone is asking why Yashasvi Jaiswal is not playing. All this is increasing the pressure on him.
“But he’s a great player so he’ll get over it. He’s got his stride right, his shots right, so he just needs to play a normal game. He’ll just break out. That’s the only thing. So, a few big knocks against South Africa at home and he’ll be back in form again,” Srikanth added.

He smiled as if he had scored goals for 100 years – Kris Srikanth talks about Virat Kohli
Virat Kohli had two consecutive ducks in his first two matches in Australia, but things changed in the third ODI. He missed the target with his first pitch and celebrated with a fist pump. The great batsman of modern times remained unbeaten in the middle order till the end and played a stunning knock of 74* runs. Kris Srikanth said of Kohli:
“That sporting nature (in the celebration after missing the mark) is what makes this great man so great. He laughed as if he had scored once in a century. So, even after two ducks, he had a sense of humour, but also determination. He also makes batting look very easy by always rotating his strikes and giving strikes to Rohit Sharma, which leaves the bowlers clueless.”
“Young Virat Kohli just established himself in 2011 when we won the World Cup. For him to go from there to the level he is now is unbelievable. Think of the mindset it takes to do that. He is still very He is a great fit and his overall presence in the field, whether it be in defense or running between the wickets, is enough. His presence alone is a lively presence. You will never find someone like Virat Kohli.”
