Tottenham Hotspur has been linking with multiple managers in recent weeks, and Fabrizio Romano has confirmed he’s approached Roberto de Zerbi.
The Italian manager is currently in Marseille. He wants to stay there. He refused to approach him from Tottenham. They are now expected to move forward in a meeting with Thomas Frank of Brentford, according to Romano.
It appears that the Danish manager is not a front runner at work.
Roberto de Zerbi would have been a great option
De Zerbi has previously shown his quality in Brighton and the Premier League, with Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola calling him “one of the most influential managers of the past 20 years.”
There is no doubt that Italians are top managers. He would have been a great appointment for Tottenham. However, he has no desire to leave the French club now.
It will be interesting to see if Tottenham can bring in the right additions during the summer transfer period. They must get the management appointment correctly this summer. They were hoping to bounce back hard last year after a disappointing Premier League campaign.
The right manager will make the most of his players next season. There’s no doubt they have a quality team, but Ange Postecoglou has failed to capitalize on their true potential.
Tottenham keen to Thomas Frank
Frank has done outstanding work at Brentford, but there is no doubt that he will also be a quality appointment. It is still unknown how the situation will develop.
Apart from bringing in quality managers, they also need to block out the weaknesses of the team. Multiple signatures will be required to truly match the European elite next season.
They have secured qualifying for the Champions League next season, and need a better, deeper team.
