Ron Harper responded to the growing excitement among his son’s fans playing with San Antonio Spurs young center Victor Wenbagnama.
Dylan Harper, who played for the College’s Rutgers Scarlet Knights, is the second expected pick in the NBA draft, belonging to the San Antonio Spurs.
The 19-year-old averages over 19 points in college and is touted as one of the best security guards in the 2025 class.
His father, Ron Harper, was also a security guard, winning five championships with teams such as the Chicago Bulls and La Lakers.
Dylan said his players comparisons in the NBA are Cade Cunningham and, like the Detroit Pistons guard, he is also an athletic player with excellent finishing capabilities.
The Spurs already have something like Steffon Castle, which won the Dearon Fox in the Rookie of the Year and guard position, but they are very similar to the idea of drafting Harper and giving Victor Wenbanyama another guard option that could help him.
After more than a month left in the draft, Ron Harper revealed his feelings about Dylan teaming up with the French big man.
Standing at 6 feet 4, Harper is a creative player with all the tools to become a great point guard in the league.
He can learn a lot from Fox and also helps him to play with Wenby.
His father, a former assistant NBA coach, also approved the idea that the duo would play together.
He responded to fans who proposed the idea and said, “It might be special.”
The former NBA player is very active in X and has responded to fans about his son’s future, but he also insisted that there is no point in creating a scenario before the official draft.
His tweet read: “I love all of these NBA GMS on Twitter, but I’ll continue to talk to everyone until June 25th, calling out the name of Dylan Harper, whose team isn’t on the team. Enjoy your dreams.”
Greg Popovich announced he was away from his coaching responsibilities after 29 years of running.
Wenbanyama gave pop flowers after a sensational career.
But the Spurs now have a lot of talent on their roster a few years ago.
They already have two exciting guard options for Fox and Castle, so incorporating Harper into the mix is why they are the decision to consider.
There has been a lot of talk about Spurs being the landing site of Giannis Antetokounmpo. If so, Harper could be part of a deal that will help the franchise take him to Texas.
He was impressed by the combined raft, which is why there is an increasing likelihood that Harper will land in San Antonio.
Franchises are known for developing young lottery picks, but players available to players like Antetokounmpo may need to make big decisions and move away from traditional methods.
