The Los Angeles had a season full of bad news about the pitching staff.
From the 14 pitchers currently on the injured list to being tied down to the eighth-highest team era in baseball, there were few bright spots. Meanwhile, rookie right-handed Ben Casparius has proven to be the one who glimps in big moments and makes the most of his opportunity in the uniform.

With a 2.94 ERA in 33.2 innings in 2025, Casparius shows many promises in the struggled bullpen. Manager Dave Roberts spoke about his rookie relief success. He especially got into the game and then got out of a two-out baseloaded situation last week against the Arizona Diamondbacks.
“It was big, I just felt that was the right place for him,” Roberts said. “We obviously put him in a lot of high leverage spots, and he answered every opportunity the right way.”
Casparius temporarily began his MLB career with three appearances at the end of last season, and made four more appearances in October. Even in 2025 he showed the ability to play wherever he needed, just as his skipper recognized his flexibility.
“His role is like constantly evolving,” Roberts said. “But considering where we were in the pen and where we lost the man, his role had to change and he said he’s now a hybrid, like a hybrid. He could still do multiples, but I wasn’t shy about going to him there (against the diamondback).”
Trust is a very important asset in the show, and perhaps there is no area where its traits are more valuable due to the current state of the pitching roster. If Casparius can continue his production, his future will be very bright in Los Angeles, even after a pitching injury (hopefully) subsides.
