The Timberwolves won the series in Game 5 with the 121-110 victory and the Warriors on Wednesday. In the second consecutive season, the team advanced to the Western Conference Finals.
After a Game 5 victory, Minnesota Center’s Rudy Goat spoke to the media. He was asked to reflect on his time with Mike Conley and what it would be like to reach this stage of the playoffs with him. The Frenchman says he has experienced a lot with Mike Conley and wants to win the championship for him. As a franchise, Minnesota has never played the NBA Finals.
The Timberwolves want to win the title of veteran PG Mike Conley
“We’ve gone through a lot, me and Mike (Conley). I love him. Above all, I want to win for him. I know he wins and how good he is.
I want to say I want to do it for Joe (Ingress), but Joe doesn’t care.” – Rudy Goat pic.twitter.com/gzogqqjgsk

The Grizzlies chose Mike Conley from Ohio State using their fourth overall pick in the 2007 NBA Draft. Conley played the first 12 seasons of his Memphis career. After the 2018-19 season, the Grizzlies traded Conley for the Utah Jazz. He spent four and a half seasons with the Jazz before trading him to the Timberwolves at the 2022-23 deadline.
Conley has spent the past three seasons in Minnesota. From 2023-24 he started 76 games and from 2024-25 he started 71 games with the Timberwolves. This past season, Conley averaged 8.2 points per game, the lowest of his career. However, veteran PGs don’t need flashy stats to become Minnesota team players. After winning Wednesday, Timberwolves center Rudy Goat said he wanted to win the Conley championship.
Gobert and Conley were teammates for four seasons at Utah. Following the 2021-22 season, the Jazz traded Gobert for the Timberwolves. With the 2022-23 deadline, Jazz swapped Mike Conley for Minnesota. Rudy Gobert and Mike Conley met again. They spent the last six seasons together as teammates. Goat wants to give Conley a title. Because he knows how much he cares about victory. The Timberwolves are waiting for the winner of the Nuggets vs. Thunder series.
