LeBron James has a “second decision” on the horizon, leaving everyone wondering if he will retire.
LeBron James declared on his social media channels that he would “make all decisions.”
This “second decision” is a direct replica of James’ original “decision” announced in 2010 when he joined the Miami Heat.
However, the big announcement wasn’t related to his retirement and ended with James announcing a new partnership with Hennessy.
James has not played for the Los Angeles Lakers during the preseason, as he is likely to sit out with the goal of preparing for the season opener against the Golden State Warriors.
Rui Hachimura became interested in James’ future after the mysterious announcement and contacted him.
Hachimura said he texted James and LeBron simply responded with “weird emojis.”
“I’m texting him too. He’s using weird emojis. I don’t even know what they mean. I don’t understand.”
“He loves surprises like that.”
With the 2025-26 NBA season just around the corner, it would have been a huge upset for the team if James had announced his retirement.
However, Lakers head coach JJ Redick made it clear that he was not afraid of LeBron potentially retiring because the team knew what was going on.
“Everyone knew it was an ad…no one panicked,” Reddick said.
Austin Reeves, who was in awe that James was still playing in the NBA, was relieved to learn that James wasn’t going anywhere.
“I’m glad he didn’t (retire),” he said.
James is set to become an unrestricted free agent next summer, entering his final year with the Lakers. At this point, no one knows when James will call it a career.
