Rumors include how LeBron James communicated with the La Lakers and Lukadon Sic during the turbulent offseason

LeBron James and La Lakers appear to be at odds all summer, but what was their communication like?

The Los Angeles Lakers and LeBron James have not quelled concerns over the state of their relationship this summer.

For years, James signed a one-year contract with the Lakers, turned down player options and negotiated another one-year contract.

But this season was different. James opted for the $52.6 million Lakers player options this summer, suggesting that new deals won’t hit the terms.

Additionally, the Lakers did not inform James of the sale to Mark Walter. As a franchise superstar, it’s a very rude move.

The Lakers seem happy to have LeBron James walk in the 2026 offseason. But as this relationship is tense, what have they both talked about?

Despite the reported issues, the Lakers and LeBron James were constantly speaking. According to Clutch Point’s Brett Segel, the Lakers and James communicate regularly.

Even if they have their problems, the Lakers and LeBron James have been talking about their goals of winning the new season and next season’s NBA Championship.

“Throughout the offseason, LeBron has spoken with several members of the team’s staff amid speculation about trade, acquisitions and retirement over future Hall of Fame.

“He never cut off communication with the team and James is dedicated to his victory in Los Angeles, sources said.

“Whether or not this will be his last year with the Lakers is a completely different conversation.

“In response to rumors of a potential retirement and questions about him potentially continuing his career elsewhere, the words surrounding LeBron were quiet.

Luka Donsic and LeBron James are in touch too. In fact, the two players continued their strong relationship with regular and positive interactions.

“When it comes to communicating with members of the Lakers this summer, including Don Sic, James is described as his “normal, fun self.”

“There was no indication between these conversations between James and his team staff that he was unhappy and wanted to leave Los Angeles any time soon.”

The King did not attend Luka Donsic’s contract extension last weekend. However, James called Don Chick to congratulate the New Deal.

If the two players are on the same page, the Lakers can be excited by the prospect of competing for the NBA Championship next season.
