Ryan Garcia is back.
The controversial boxing star, the 26-year-old boxing star, weighed up on Thursday’s official weigh-in at the fatal Fury: City of Wolves event, held outdoors at Times Square in New York on Friday. Garcia hit the signed mark at 146.8 pounds, while opponent Rory Romero weighed at 146.6 pounds.
This is Garcia’s first fight since he served a year’s suspension due to a failed drug test following his battle with rival Devin Haney in April 2024. However, subsequent drug testing violations overturned the results to a non-contest.
Haney will compete in Friday’s main event against Jose Ramirez. Both men weighed well in the catchweight contest, with Haney appearing at 143 pounds and Ramirez appearing at 143.8 pounds.
On Thursday evening’s ritual weigh-in, Garcia and Romero held a brief showdown, releasing a grandma’s statement before Friday’s match. Meanwhile, Haney promises to “harm” Ramirez and then to Garcia.
Also competing on Friday, WBO Super Lightweight Champion Teofimo Lopez created weight (139.6) for the title defense against Arnold Barboza (139.8). On Thursday’s ritual weigh-in, Lopez wore a Lucador mask and the two shared a violent stare for a few minutes before finally being separated.
