On Sunday, the Cleveland Cavaliers defeated the Milwaukee Bucks in an early-season showdown.
After losing their first game of the season to the New York Knicks, the Cleveland Cavaliers have gotten back on track with consecutive wins.
The Cavaliers were able to win this game despite a great performance from Giannis Antetokounmpo, who had 40 points, 14 rebounds, and 9 assists.
The Cavaliers were led by Donovan Mitchell, Evan Mobley, and sharpshooter Sam Merrill.
Merrill had a solid game against the Cavaliers, scoring 17 points on 4-of-9 shooting.
He is a weapon for the Cavaliers with his reliable 3-point shooting. Merrill has started the season with an impressive 51.7 percent 3-point shooting percentage.
Cavaliers coach Kenny Atkinson called him the Cavaliers’ best player this season, a compliment Merrill quickly shut down.
“Maybe he’s not right. We have players in more difficult roles. Of course I’m glad he sees (what he’s doing).”
Merrill is off to a strong start this season with Cleveland.
He is averaging 19.3 points, 2.3 rebounds and 2.3 assists on 51.5 percent from the field and 51.7 percent from deep in 28.3 minutes per game.
The Cavaliers should be very happy with his performance, and if he can keep this up, it will make them even harder to beat.
After recording his second win of the season, Mitchell spoke about what Merrill means to the team.
“He has the respect of everyone in this locker room.”
The Cavaliers will face the Detroit Pistons and aim for their third straight win.
