Virginia Water, UK – A Scotland golf course owned by US President Donald Trump will host a tournament on the European Tour in August.
Trump International Golf Links Scotland will be holding the Scottish Championship from August 7th to 10th after being added to the 2025 schedule on Tuesday’s tour.
The Aberdeen course is one of two owned by Trump in Scotland. The other is a Trump Turnberry. Trump Turnberry is one of 10 courses to host the UK Open.
It is the first time Trump International has held an event on its European tour, but the course will be used for tournaments for the 2023 and 2024 senior tours and will do so this year, a week before the Scotland Championship.
Eric Trump, executive vice president of the Trump organization, said holding consecutive events at Trump International was marked as a “significant milestone.”
The Scottish Championship was last performed on the European Tour in October 2020.
Trump’s course also hosts events at the BreakAway LIV Golf Circuit.
The R&A, which organizes the UK Open, points to logistics and infrastructure issues as the main factor behind Stewart Sink’s failure to award Turnberry majors since Stewart Sink defeated 59-year-old Tom Watson in the playoffs.
In 2021, then CEO of R&A, Martin Slumbers said the opening “will not return to Turnberry until we are convinced that the focus is on the championship, the players, and the course itself.”
However, while the R&A stance appears to have softened, recently hired CEO Mark Darbon said last month that his organization is “at the feasibility job” on potential returns to Turnberry.
Trump International in northern Scotland has panoramic views of wind turbines offshore not too far from Aberdeen Beach.
The Scottish government’s approval of the wind farm drew Trump’s rage as deemed the turbines “unsightful” and ruined the views of the nearby gorgeous golf resort.
