PBM Ducati has found an alternative to Glenn Irwin.
Scott Reading was confirmed this weekend in his surprise comeback at the British Superbike Championship at Knock Hill.
Irwin was injured in a bad collision at Snetterton and required surgery on his pelvis, but will be on the sidelines for the near future.
PBM Ducati dismissed rumors linking with Tarran Mackenzie, hinting at an exciting rider repeatedly for Irwin.
2019 BSB Champion Redding has been announced.
Redding won the BSB title in his first attempt while representing the PBM team when he edged teammate Josh Brookes.
He won at Knock Hill and will be back this weekend.
Redding also has experience with MotoGP and Moto2, and most recently the World Superbike Championship.
Redding said:
“Obviously, I have really great memories of my team when I won the title in 2019. As always, I want to do the best job I can for myself, my sponsors and my team.
“I hope to take this opportunity to perform at my best possible performance and hope that Glenn will recover quickly from his injuries.”
Irwin said: “Good luck! You have a great team and you’re a great rider, so you win.
Jordan Bird, owner of the co-team, said:
“In the meantime, we’re excited to bring Scott back to the team! His experience is invaluable and if 2019 passes, we’ll run to the ground.
“This marks another chapter in the 2025 storyline and we are ready to take it together, and I want to thank everyone who has done their part in making this happen.
“Finally, I would like to encourage Scottish supporters to return Scott to BSB with open arms. I look forward to seeing lots of tracksides this weekend.”
