    • Saturday’s League Double

The English elite may already be shutting down their shops for an international break in September, but that doesn’t mean we’re lacking domestic action this weekend.

There are plenty of interesting showdowns from across the country, using stacked fixture lists from both League 1 and League 2, respectively.

For those trying to stick with flapping Saturday, we took a quick look at the most engaging League One betting tips available.

15:00 Huddersfield Town vs Peterborough United

Huddersfield is under immense scrutiny as those who endured the public crisis at the end of the 2024/25 campaign eventually ended their 14-point drift in the playoff venue. But while some may wonder if the terrier would show signs of a hangover during the proceedings last month, Lee Grant’s men enjoyed the eye-catching opening gust. With Newcastle’s desperate 6-2 victory over the U21, the Yorkshire-based outfit should be finding the mood at camp at its recent heights, as they proceeded with an EFL trophy adventure early in the week. Despite falling into a 3-1 defeat against Barnsley last weekend, it could have been a minor blip for Huddersfield. The former Manchester United goalkeeper, who has won four of his previous five appearances in all competitions, should sniff out a real opportunity here.

Peterborough may have ultimately stuck to League One status last season, but Darren Ferguson’s amp is now penciled in as a landslide relegation candidate. Starting their respective EFL trophy campaigns mid-week with a 3-1 home defeat against Leighton Orient, Posh failed to win their first eight appearances (7 losses, one draw) in all competitions. Saturday’s guest, who has so far posted one league point on the board this season, has also shown some major defensive issues. Sign-off in August, which routinely concluded a 3-0 drum in Exeter’s hands, Ferguson’s team scored 11 goals in their first six league one showdowns. Peterborough, who opens equipment this weekend and hosts the Division’s third defensive tally, is setting up something that will be another rigorous exam when traveling to Yorkshire on Saturday afternoons.

15:00 Lincoln City vs Wigan Athletic

Lincoln may have mostly sat last season’s big spell on Ligue One’s Limbo, but Michael Skubara’s side this time jumped out of the trap. With a 3-0 home victory against Notts County, IMPS is currently firmly aiming to find a route to the playoff location here, with an EFL trophy adventure going on earlier in the week. Lincoln was extended to last month’s EFL Cup campaign, which took a sturdy 1-0 victory at Burton. The recent purple patch highlighted by an action-packed 3-2 victory over Plymouth on August 16th, the hosts on Saturday have also earned a reputation for successful extensions at the bank. In fact, following since last season, Skubala’s playoff hopes have been struggling with one defeat in front of their supporters since the end of February.

Wigan may have gone on to a new campaign with a 3-1 victory over Northampton over the weekend, but the Latics once again showed some real contradictions. Proceeding Saturday’s showdown was sitting in the bottom half of League One’s standings, so Ryan Lowe’s team registered one victory from their previous five appearances in all competitions. With each EFL trophy adventure progressing in a frustrating 2-0 defeat at home against local bitter rival Salford, Wigan was unable to find any kind of clinical edge in the final third. It should also be noted that a 1-0 loss at Luton on August 19th saw Lowe register the only points from one of the first three showdowns from Brick Community Stadium. Similarly, following from last season, the Latics have called out one victory on their trip since mid-January.
