It is reported that Sergio Perez held his first consultation in 2026 to join the Alpine.
After losing a drive at Red Bull at the end of last season, Perez won a sabbatical from Formula 1 this year, but if he finds a “project that motivates him”, he can return to the series.
Cadillac is considered to be one of Perez’s main options, and team advisor Mario Andretti hints that it is being considered in 2026 seats.
However, it has now become clear that Cadillac is not the only team that Perez can finish next year.
From Sergio Perez to Alpine?
The race reported that the Mexican camp had discussions with Alpine Boss’ Flavio Bryator over the Miami Grand Prix weekend to discuss potential vacancies for the team.
He is not considered to be at the top of the list, but it is claimed that Alpine is open to hiring six Grand Prix winners.
Participating in the Factory Cadillac team is an attractive outlook for Perez. Given the opportunity to build a new manufacturer-backed team from scratch, he recognizes that Alpine will provide a more competitive seating, at least in the short term.
Perez’s longtime supporter and billionaire Carlos Slim also appeared in Miami to hold a meeting on the F1 return plan.
But while it’s a priority to get Perez back on the grid, Slim could also back Franco Colapinto if it becomes a long-term choice for Alpine’s preference.
The Renault-based brand benched Jack Doohan for the next six Formula One races to evaluate Cora Pinto.
