NBA legend Tracy McGrady is one of the most prolific scorers to date to retire without winning the title.
During the heyday of his career, Tracy McGrady was often seen in the same league as the late NBA Great Kobe Bryant, at least in terms of their scoring ability.
However, Mamba retired his name in five NBA championships compared to T-Mac’s Zero. Orlando Magic legend recently made headlines when he claimed he would not retire from ringless if he had the opportunity to play with Shaquille O’Neal.
Well, O’Neill responded to McGrady’s astronomical claims and surprisingly agreed with him.
During the heyday of his NBA career, few players could say they were better than O’Neill. He made perfect use of Prime by helping the LA Lakers win three NBA championships.
Bryant was O’Neill’s deputy commander for three peats. Although it’s not a shot at Bryant, Shack believes the outcome would have been similar if he had T-MAC as a secondary superstar.
“Take me and record this. The T-Mac was a bad M_____F_____. Yeah, but you had to understand.
“Our guy (Bryant) got me three, so there was room to run. T-Mac double, triple, quadrature team.”
“Kenny Smith always said this: “Kobe wasn’t doubled. The triple team was able to walk around a lot of teams and do everything.” I believe what T-Mac said is true,” he added.
Diesel agreed to McGrady’s statement, but he distrusts Kobe’s role. He agreed that Mamba is not your “average passenger.”
Back to the topic at hand, O’Neal further talked about it, announcing that if he was with the Lakers he would win three NBA championships in a row with McGrady.
He also reminded fans of how McGrady scored 13 points in 33 seconds against the San Antonio Spurs in 2004.
“T-Mac was also a bad boy. But he doesn’t have enough space to actually do the surgery, so I agree with what T-Mac said.
“I probably get a lot of shooting, but I always tell myself, I might have got three in a row with the T-MAC,” Shaq said.
But to make things interesting, the 4X NBA champions notched things and pointed out that if they played with Golden State Warriors star Stephen Curry, they won six NBA titles.
“I think I got two with Vince (Carter). Oh, I know, I got a six with Steph,” concluded O’Neill.
